For the one who feels alone

This is for the one who feels defeated by the weight of the world right now. For the one who feels like their faith is fading because nothing makes sense. The one who lays in bed at night with an anxious and restless heart. The one who is growing frustrated and impatient with your circumstances because nothing seems to be changing. The one who doesn’t know if they can hold onto the light anymore because the darkness is all you see and feel. This is for you because I see you and I understand. I don’t know who needs to hear this right now but I believe I’m speaking straight to someone on the other side of the screen. Whoever you are, I just described exactly how you feel. I want to let you know that you are not alone in that. I’m right there with you, and I think the majority of the world is too. I want to be transparent and vulnerable because sometimes we just need to know that we aren’t alone in our feelings. So this is me being honest and letting you know it’s okay to be open. Right now, the world feels darker than ever. With each new day, it seems like we are flooded with more devasting news surrounding the coronavirus. It seems like the light is growing dimmer and the enemy is winning. Panic has taken control in most of our hearts and fear is spreading rapidly. The unknown has never felt scarier because this time, we truly have no prediction of what’s to come. It can feel unsettling and uneasy at times when we are dwelling on the circumstances going on around us. The coronavirus isn’t even the only battle going on in everyone’s lives right now. Before this trial came, we were all fighting our own individual battles already. Then, all of a sudden we had a global pandemic thrown on top of everything else we have to deal with. This current season is far from easy. It’s scary, exhausting, frustrating and hopeless at times. If you’re like me, you probably have an endless amount of questions swirling around your head that you’re desperate to know the answers to. How much longer until the light comes? When will we see the purpose? What’s going to happen next? Are things only going to get worse? God, where are You? Right now, life just feels like one big storm that is roaring with crashing waves, causing so many to feel like they are sinking deeper and deeper beneath the surface. This reminds me of the story about Jesus and His disciples who were in a boat in the middle of the sea. While a great storm swamped the boat with crashing waves, Jesus was sound asleep. The disciples were immediately consumed with fear and woke Jesus up, crying out for help. Jesus replied, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” and He stood up to rebuke the winds and calm the storm. We are a lot like the disciples here, we see the storm surrounding us and immediately panic. Our circumstances blind us and cause us to lose sight of the One who is in control. Our boat starts to sink because we let fear consume us to the point that we completely forget the truth of our Savior. When all we see is our pain. When all we see is what’s going wrong. When all we see is our struggles. We start to lose sight of Jesus. I feel like a lot of us are in a boat that is sinking right now. You’re letting everything consume you. The enemy is throwing every single lie he can at you to make your boat sink. To get your eyes off of Jesus. To steal your hope, joy, and peace. If you didn’t know it before, I’m telling you now that you’re at a constant war with the enemy. Satan will do anything he can for you to lose faith and lose sight of the truth. But don’t be afraid, because in the presence of Jesus, the enemy flees. In the presence of Jesus, Satan falls like lightning. In the presence of Jesus, darkness runs for cover. So whoever is reading this, I’m begging you, please lift your eyes. It’s time to take them off the crashing waves surrounding you and set them on your Heavenly Father who is waiting for you to look back up. Our storms can’t drown us when our hearts are set on Jesus, the living hope. I hope you feel less alone in whatever you’re facing. I hope you know that He has never left you no matter what you may think. and I hope you know that you’re loved beyond anything you can comprehend. His love chases you down every second of everyday. All you have to do is accept it and allow it to wash over you. While we wait patiently for what’s to come, let’s choose to praise Him because His goodness hasn’t changed. His faithfulness hasn’t changed. His promises haven’t changed. The Lord never changes. So in the middle of the storm, I will praise Him. In the middle of my trial, I will still bless His name. And from the rising to the setting of the sun, I will praise his name the same. I hope you decide to also:)
